The sun sets for Kade Young’s esteemed high school career, but a new chapter is only just beginning. As this stage of life comes to an end, reflection and nostalgia are at the forefront of his mind. Kade grew as a person and a student during his time at South Eugene High School. Between track, cross country, and newspaper, Kade explored many interests and met many interesting people. Kade didn’t initially intend to join the newspaper, but he was put in the class and quickly found it fun. Kade created his own position that he excelled at. Not only did he introduce the crossword to our high school newspaper, he also added a charismatic and humorous atmosphere to the classroom. Those are values Kade brought to every aspect of his life. He reminisced about his days as a freshman, experiencing the bomb threats, and finding joy in being able to relax in the sunshine and hang out with friends. Kade pushes himself to exceed expectations, he broke 17:30 in the 5k, and received the title of Chief of Design in Newspaper.
Kade has family in mind for his future. He highlights further how much kindness and honesty means to him. Committed to Gonzaga University, Kade plans to major in business, and eventually start his own business. “I like the idea of being my own boss,” Kade states “The freedom is appealing to me.”
This makes sense for our free spirited reporter Kade Young. The world isn’t ready for Kade’s drive and honor. Good luck to you Kade and good luck to all those who have to employ him.
