Try out some new places in the Big E as we go into Spring

Do you ever feel like you’ve run out of places to eat at, nothing sounds good, or you just need a change? Well you’ve come to the right place! Here are nine different places to try in the Big E, plus an extra bonus option in Springfield.

Starting off fresh we have OG Poke EU at 2132 W. 6th: They bring authentic, traditional, and delicious poke with a laid back vibe, all at a  reasonable price. Also known for their authenticity is Bon Mi at 153 E. Broadway. They serve pho, soups, banh mi, and many other familiar Vietnamese foods (including some vegan options).

If you’re looking for something to grab on the go as summer adventures approach, there’s Scribles Bistro & Deli at 1123 Monroe. This casual, cozy spot serves hand-crafted sandwiches, and they’re especially known for their Philly’s and Italian beef. Another incredible sandwich spot is Lovely, located in Springfield at 111 Main St. They feature different breakfasts, sandwiches, smoothies and incredible coffee within a cute atmosphere.

Speaking of smoothies, if you’re looking for something a bit more fruity you should stop by Vitality Bowls at 440 Coburg, Suite 102 where they specialize in nutritious acai bowls, but also carry toasts, paninis, and other yummy items. If you ever find yourself looking for somewhere to eat where the food is great but the vibe is also fun I would recommend Tiger Mama at 2564 Willamette. This incredible Korean restaurant serves delicious fried chicken, bibimbap, and cupbap with fresh vegetables and a variety of sauces. The staff here is also super helpful and friendly.

Looking for  more of a sea vibe? Do you ever have a craving for our Oregon Coast but don’t have the time or energy to take the trip? If that’s you, then you should definitely stop by Newman’s Fish Company at 1545 Willamette. They’re known for their tasty fish in a variety of entrees and seafood sandwiches. In the past year, Nelson’s, an authentic latin fusion restaurant, has moved into our UO campus at 871 E. 13th Ave. As one of my personal favorites, they’re known for their famous birria tacos. And as we head into the hot summer months, I would recommend Albee’s NY Gyro’s at 2260 W 18th as a great place for some fresh and cooling Greek food, including gyros and falafel.

Last but definitely not least, if you’re looking for a sweet treat, we have Metropol Bakery at 2538 Willamette serving delectable desserts and other baked goods, ranging from cupcakes and mousse, to bread and sandwiches.

While these places are all incredible, they are only the start to the many amazing and unique foods to try in Eugene. If you want to look for more food suggestions, you can always check popular review sites and, of course, social media platforms. Following some of these eateries’ online socials can loop you in on special offers and deals. As someone who has fallen into a little bit of a rut by going to the same places, I’ve learned that it’s important to expand our horizons and try new things. Get out there, South!
