There have been many successful book-to-film adaptations in 2025, such as Mickey 17, The Running Man, The Housemaid and many more. Here are some highly anticipated book to film adaptations scheduled to release in 2026.

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir is a 2021 science fiction novel about an amnesiac scientist in outer space on a last-chance mission to save earth. It is a critically acclaimed, fast-paced novel, with a humorous, yet highly emotional, storyline. The film adaptation, starring Ryan Gosling, is scheduled to release to theaters on Mar. 20.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins follows 16-year-old Haymitch Abernathy’s experience in the 50th Hunger Games. This dystopian novel is deeply heartbreaking, full of themes of loss and the price of survival. The film adaptation, starring Joseph Zada, is scheduled to release on Nov. 20.

Colleen Hoover, a bestselling contemporary romance author, will have two book-to-film adaptations in 2026: Reminders of Him, a bestselling 2022 novel with themes of redemption, forgiveness and grief; and Verity, a psychological thriller about a struggling writer who discovers a disturbing autobiography while ghostwriting for an incapacitated author. These novels’ film adaptations are scheduled to be released on Mar. 13 and Oct. 2 respectively. 

Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë is an 1847 novel about the destructive love between Catherine and Heathcliff. This novel spans generations, following themes of love, revenge and social class. The film stars Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi and is scheduled to release on Feb. 13.People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry is a romance novel spanning 10 years of friendship between Poppy and Alex. This novel is full of self-discovery and the ups and downs of friendship. It was released on Jan. 9.
