Ultimate has big goals.
South Eugene Ultimate Frisbee is officially back! Both the boys and the gender diverse teams are looking to have a great season full of wins! The boys team is currently ranked No. 18 in the high school power ranking and the gender diverse team, which plays in the girls division, is currently ranked No. 2!
“I feel really good about our season so far. The team is very tightly knit right now and it is always super fun,” South junior Julian Soper said. The gender diverse team is coming off a very strong season last year, where they won the national invite for the third year in a row and the boys team was the 2024 state champion. They both look to have another strong season and a deep run in the playoffs.
“Although we lost a lot of seniors from the team, I still believe that we can make a deep run in the playoffs because of how good the team chemistry and connection is,” South junior Charlie Nieckarz said. Although Ultimate frisbee may not be the most recognized sport in the world, it does not lack action and energy. It is a very fast paced sport with action plays happening all the time, whether it is a long throw for a score or a diving bat down, go and show your support for both South teams. Make sure to wear purple and go Axe!
