New year, same me; I still haven’t gone on a date. With the changing calendar comes many other shifts, both to commemorate the old and celebrate the new. Though the darkest point of the year usually happens near the beginning of winter break, the aftermath of the new year can often seem the most intolerable and the coldest, which only underscores the importance of sticking around and cozying up to your loved ones. In this column, you’ll hopefully find inspiration in the warmth and happiness that these date ideas will bring to you. As always, such ideas can also be done with friends, family, or yourself—whatever you choose!
Cook Dinner Together
Nothing brings people together like a joint effort to make dinner as the rain pours down outside. Find yourselves in the kitchen, helping each other chop, dice, and serve dinner while listening to your favorite jams or shows. If you don’t know what to cook, then borrow a family heritage cookbook to better remember your past, and enjoy the fun of cooking with your loved ones while doing so. If you don’t know how to cook, then now’s the perfect time to start! So hunker down in your kitchen and get started. It’s sure to be fun and (hopefully) deliciously rewarding.
