Welcome to South, freshmen! South Eugene High School has a fantastic community that is here for you.

One of the best ways to start off your high school journey is by building a safety net: a group of trusted teachers, support staff, and peers. Your teachers are here to support you through your learning, and your counselor is an excellent resource for information, scheduling help, and any general questions you may have.

South also has over three dozen clubs and affinity groups, all listed on the school website, which can help you make friends and get a sense of what you’re interested in. If you already have more specific interests like engineering or graphic design, there are many classes you can take as part of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs at South. You can keep those in mind for forecasting in the future, and information about those will be shared in the school’s Curriculum Guides.

South also has resources such as the College and Career Center, Club 9 (homework help for ninth graders after school in the library on Mondays and Thursdays), and HOOTS (Helping Out Our Teens in School, a free mental health service available to all students). Last, but not least, remember to start off with good habits and keep organized with a planner. Have a great year!
